Mike Poyzer Age 59
Started work as an Engineering Apprentice for Raleigh in 1964. Left them as a Design and Production Engineer to further his business knowledge by selling bicycles and parts principally with Trusty Viscount . Started his own business in 1977 initially in bicycle retail but soon became involved in importation and distribution of parts during the BMX boom. Built the business into one of the UKs major bicycle retailers and mail order operations before adding product design and development to their operation, in co operation with a growing list of collaborators in the Far East. Moved to the current location in 2001 and continued to develop from a retailer to a distributor to a worldwide distributor. In 2006 decided to lease out their retail site to Raleigh and also signed up to distribute their brand in the UK through Moore Large and Co. This left time to concentrate on product design and development and allowed them to continue to lease out sections of the factory as they became empty. Holds several Patents for bicycle products and continues to live and breathe bicycles.
Chris Poyzer. Age 33
Born into the bike business, he discarded his stabilisers before he was three. Took up BMX racing and won UK nationals in his age group. Switched to Downhill racing in the early 1990s culminating in 14th place in the UCI World Championships in Metabief , France in 1993. After doing a Joinery apprenticeship and working part time at the cycle shop, he joined the family firm in 1995 taking charge of much of the property redevelopment in which the business was involved but also a lot of involvement in day to day running. The driving force behind Onzas involvement with Cycle Shows he has run their increasingly high profile event for the last five years in the London Cycle Show. Handles a lot of graphic design and development work.
Joe Poyzer. Age 23
Born into the bike business but it never quite rubbed off on him in the same way as Chris. He was more interested in other sports. After an early career in electronics, he joined the group in 2005 to head up the Shock division which distributed and serviced X-Fusion Shox and Spinner Suspension Forks. He then became increasingly involved in the development and selling of Onza products, handling liaison with Moore Large & Co. when they took over distribution. It was felt to be such an important part of the businesses future, that in early 2008 Joe was seconded to work for Moore Large directly for two days a week where he is specifically in charge of Onza development within their huge range of product distribution. The remaining three days he continues to work on Onza with special interest in team liaison and product design and testing.
Sue Poyzer. Age: (You dont seriously think she will tell you that)
After raising the crew, she has been heavily involved in the running of the business since its inception and probably knows more about bikes than she would care to let on. Tries and often fails dismally to keep the boys in order, complains constantly about the mess which they make and is generally the backbone of operations. Cross her at your peril. ...previous... ______________________________
